The first preview day of the semester is in 2 days, Saturday, November 18! I have never attended a Preview Day on campus before so overall, I am very excited for the event.  I’m anticipating seeing many aspiring Pacificans and hopefully I can be of some help!  If you’re one of those students, see you there!!! :D

The Beginning

Good Day!

I hope everyone’s semester has had a great start!  For myself, the year has been a slow start.  I have had no assignments due yet, however I feel like this is the calm before the storm.  Starting in two weeks, I will have a major assignment due every week until the end of the semester.  Right now it hasn’t hit me yet just how much work there is going to be.  I feel relaxed at the moment but I guarantee I will be a basket case when the storm hits.  Here’s to you all who know the feeling!  :/

Welcome!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Cheryl  Sanpei and I am a graduate student in the Education program.  I graduated this past May with my BA in Liberal Studies in Education with a concentration in Special Education.   I was born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Oahu.  I wanted to share with all of you why I chose to come to UOP.  When I first visited the campus, I was impressed with the community on campus.  Classes are small and professors are more than willing to help when needed.  Student life is very vigorous and it is not hard to find something that is a fit for everyone.  Every night there is an event on campus, from karaoke night to movies on the lawn.  There are also many active clubs and organizations on campus and each of them do events throughout the year.  For example, I have been part of Hawaii Club for the last four years and every year has been amazing.  Every year we do a few shopping/ day trips (Westfield Valley Fair in San Jose, San Francisco), a ski trip, and an annual luau to name a few. The student organization on campus also sponsors many trips/events.  Some of the past events include going to professional sporting games (hockey, baseball, basketball), shows (Cirque du Soleil, Wicked), and a ski/ snowboarding trip as well.  For the most part, some type of event can be found!   Overall I really do think UOP was the best choice for me.  The school has so much to offer and it is hard not to take advantage of all the opportunities.  I hope that everyone can get involved and make student life on campus even better! :)
